"1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. We’re doing our part to protect our mothers, sisters, and friends". Beauty Counter says "We will never use parabens – preservatives that can disrupt the hormone system – and other chemicals linked to the disease".

Beauty Counter is taking skin care to the next level. Actually where it should of been this whole time. The standard personal care products are bogged down with harmful chemicals that our skin in fact absorbs and leaches into our body. See just where your current personal care items rank on the toxic list, on the Skin Deep data base.( ie tooth paste, cosmetics, deodorant, lotions.)

Beauty Counter states that they have banned over 1,500 ingredients setting a new health and safety standard. Their products a vegan (with the expectation of the conditioner and lip balm that contains bees wax). They use organic ingredients such as organic coconut oil. They use gluten free ingredients. And use truth in labeling so you know what you are slathering on your skin.

Not only are the products squeaky clean and healthy, they are high performance making your skin radiant! I've sampled the Face Collection and Lustro Oils and now I am hooked! As an Aesthetician I am very selective about the products I use. And when I find something I fall in love with I shout it from the roof tops. Clean products that actually work. I am all in!

After hearing the Beauty Counter story and trying the products myself. I decided to join the movement. I want to help Beauty Counter in their mission to get their products into the hands of everyone! You can join the movement too, whether your just using the products or sharing the Beauty Counter story. Connect with me on FB and visit my Beauty Counter website.

Here's to healthier living and healthier choices. Cheers!

Boots No 7 Extreme Length Mascara

Who isn't on the never ending quest for a great mascara? I know I am. I find something, I like it, it gets discontinued or the formula changes. NEXT!

My Brow Studio is right by Super Target so I go over there in between appointments to shop. :) It's DANGEROUS to be soooo close to Target lol. If I don't like what I am wearing that day. I go buy a different outfit haha. Lately, every time I go over there I have been buying different mascara's to try. Sadly, nothing but disappointment and money in the trash. The last mascara I bought cost 17.99 and sucked. I guess I should of taken it back.

Then one day as I was walking through the make-up section at Target...a bronze tube and a thin green wand, catch my eye. I back up. "Ohh, what is this" I think to myself. I read all I could about it. With an Aesthetic background somewhat of a cosmetic snob lol. How's it going to wear? Will it make my eye's itch? Will it be a pain to take off? (ya never know with mascara now days, it never comes off when you want it to!) What are the ingredients? Is the formula any good? Never the less I behold the bronze torch like bottle in my hand & throw it in the basket. It's 7.99. What the hell, right? :) Last black/brown too. Ha!

My lashes on No 7 Mascara. Love it!
Can I just say the next day when I was finishing my look with a sweep of mascara; Vavoom! Length. Vola! Dark cremy texture. Shazam! Long luscious lashes! Omg. This stuff really works! Boots No 7 Extreme Length Mascara surpassed my expectations! Surprisingly my skepticism was laid to rest. My eyes don't itch!  My lashes are dark, long, and beautiful! It wears all day & it comes off with my eye make up remover, no problem! SCORE!

Again, it's me Beauty Review Junkie Your talking to. I'm giving it a month to see if I still love it as much haha. It's been two weeks. So in two more weeks I'll let you know. But, I have this feeling it will be a staple in my make-up bag until it gets discontinued and I am forced to hunt down the next best thing. ;)

That's it for now. Chow. :)

P.S. It's a lil cheaper on Amazon

CocoNUT for Beauty

Put the Lime in the Coconut... :)

One of my newest beauty discoveries is Coconut Oil. 100% Pure Virgin Coconut Oil has many beauty benefits. Coconut oil is an antioxidant, helps prevent wrinkling of the skin, makes your hair shine and helps keep the scalp healthy. Coconut Oil also can be used to cook with and to aid in weight loss.

One day as I was walking the isles of Whole Foods and saw a jar of Coconut Oil. I randomly decided to buy some. I didn't know much about it. In fact I had it for months before I started to learn about all the benefits of Coconut Oil and start using it. Since I had it I decided I needed to figure out what to do with it. I Googled Coconut Oil and read all the things you could use it for. I was particularly interested in the different ways you could use it in a beauty regimen. It can be used for, moisturizer, scalp and hair treatments, deodorant, & chap stick just to name a few.

Since using Coconut Oil at a few nights a week in place of my moisturizer and as a hair/scalp treatment, I have noticed that my skin appears more even, feels softer, and has reduced my blackheads. My hair is shiner and my scalp feels healthier. I also read that it helps your hair grow because it nourishes and stimulates the hair follicle. I'm not sure if that is true, but I must say that I have noticed new growth. So maybe its true? I am a believer!

I have also used it to cook with and as a butter substitute. I have used melted Coconut Oil on popcorn, I have used it on toast with raw honey (delicious!). I use it for any cooking that requires vegetable oil. Its especially good in cupcake or muffin recipes. I have used it as a sweetener in coffee. I kinda went obsessive with the stuff lol. Once you start you almost crave it. I think it's because of the nutritional benefits you get from the Coconut Oil. It is rich in lauric acid which is considered to be equally important as the Omega's.

Here are some beauty recipes to try. Feel free to tweek them if you  like & come up with your own concoction. Make sure you share 'em with the rest of us. :)

Coconut Honey Face Mask:
1TBL Spoon Softened Coconut Oil (be sure not to melt it)
1TBL Spoon Raw Local Honey
3 drops Rose Absolute essential oil
Leave on 15mins. Then rinse.

Hot Oil Hair Treatment:
2-4TBL Spoons of Coconut Oil me(depending on your hair length and thickness)
10 Drops of Tea Trea Oil
Leave on for 30mins. Then wash and rinse. (Conditioner is optional since the treatment is a conditioning treatment.)

Facial Moisturizer:
1/4 teaspoon softened Coconut Oil
1 drop Essential Oil of your choice

Essential Oil Ideas:
Lemon essential oil- Oily Skin

Organic

Green living is another passion of mine. I guess I'm sorta a beauty health nut :) I believe the two intertwine. Don't you?

I am researching an organic product line called Miessence. Has anyone heard of it? They appear to have a nice selection of certified organic home and beauty products; beautifully packaged botanical perfumes, cosmetics, skin care, hair care, mother and baby, health care, & household items. Here's the link if your curious Miessence .

Check it out and let me know what you think.
